The Viper V2 quickly became a fan favorite with its vicious tanto blade shape and aggressive jimping along the spine, making it easy to attach to an assisted Rapid Fire body. The Rapid Fire Viper blade shape is slightly wider and shorter than the XL due to different geometry, creating a robust tanto blade and center point tip built for hard-use cutting and piercing. We used Cryogenic D2 blade steel, the same steel as our robust Tracker-X2 and Ridgeback fixed blade knives.
The Rapid Fire elongated honeycomb texture on the G10 scales has been a proven favorite for our Rapid Fire customers, so we kept it. If you've never handled a Rapid Fire grip, it's comparable to the beefy ZT (Zero Tolerance) 0303 knife; it's a comfortable and confident four-finger grip, with or without gloves. Once you get this "Rapid Fire" beast in your hand and pull the trigger, you'll experience lightning-quick deployment.
While the Rapid Fire knives are on the larger side for EDC, they ride deep in your pocket, and the clip can be worn left or right with tip-up carry, so you'll forget it's there until you need it. We added grippy jimping in multiple key areas on the spine, two places on the G10 for your thumb, and a non-slip area at the back, giving you confidence when deploying the knife for any hard-use situation. The Rapid Fire Viper will always come razor-sharp out of the box and hold an edge for very long periods.
The Rapid Fire Series is currently used by members of the USM, EOD, Homeland Security, Secret Service, firemen, law enforcement, border patrol, first responders, Coast Guard, private security, Off-Grid adventurers, and knife enthusiasts across the world. One user states, "I've owned the Rapid Fire for over a year, I have used this knife more than any tool I own. Rock solid as the day I received it...drops, mud, sand, salt water...took each hit and kept marching. Minimal maintenance is needed. As dependable a knife as you could EVER own."
We used Cryogenic D2 blade steel, the same steel as our robust Tracker-X2 and Ridgeback fixed blade knives. D2 is an extremely tough steel that is very close to stainless, has excellent corrosion resistance, incredible edge retention, and holds an edge even after tons of hard use. To enhance the benefits of D2 even more, we used a Cryo treatment and coated it with a tumbled Titanium Nitride (TINI) coating. The benefits of the cryogenic process include additional corrosion-resistant properties, increased durability, and edge retention.
The Rapid Fire Series is Off-Grid's only assisted knives, and we designed them to deploy with force and authority. Once you get this beast in your hand and pull the trigger, you'll know why it's called the "Rapid Fire" - it's lightning quick. The Rapid Fire scales have an elongated honeycomb texture that has been a proven favorite for years, so we kept it. The scales are secured with non-strip T8 torx screws for added toughness.
